The Latest Decalogue
for SATB a cappella (1975)
by Ron Hannah

Home
Words: Arthur Hugh Clough
Duration: about 3 minutes

The text for this piece is an amusing and somewhat cynical paraphrase of the Ten Commandments, reflecting on how they are bent to suit our selfish needs of the moment. Example - Thou shalt not kill, but needst not strive / Officiously to keep alive.

It is freely tonal and somewhat dissonant, but suitable for a good amateur choir. It has been performed, but not recorded. It was a little beyond the group and as I recall they had to have their accompanist play along. If you wish to view the score please send me an email (below).
